What I’m Thinking About:
It’s easy to get lost in the details, whether that’s studying, practicing, or working. Are you enjoying it? Are you eagerly engaging the work each day? You can’t be great if you’re not passionate about what you’re doing.
This doesn’t mean everything will be easy and fun. Inevitably there will be days when you don’t want to show up. Living in the moment is just as important as living in the future. Find ways to ground yourself. Reflect on every day.
You won’t succeed in every endeavor. What matters most are the days you spend leading up to this challenge. Will you look back fondly upon the time and effort you put in? If you’re pushing yourself, then it’s okay to take the foot off the gas now and then to enjoy the ride. Otherwise you’ll arrive at your destination devoid of memories to hold onto.
Today is a great day to take a step back. Recognize how far you’ve come and how far you can go. Appreciate your emotions. Take some time to enjoy where you are and who you’re with. Because no matter where you end up, you’ll never have this same moment again. Make the most of it.
Quote:
Success is feeling good about the work you do throughout the long, unheralded journey that may or may not wind up at the launch pad. You can’t view training solely as a stepping stone to something loftier. It’s got to be an end in itself. – Astronaut Chris Hadfield
