Happy Thanksgiving, everyone — hope you enjoyed time with loved ones, reflected, and celebrated the start to the Holidays.
I want to be respectful of your time, so this is a shorter post that highlights some of the things I’m thinking about right now.
If anything interests you please feel free to reach out so we can discuss.
Religion: What does the next Messiah look like?
Related: How does software, AI, and Deep Fakes change spirituality and religion?
Audio: Audio is now software, which means that (almost all) sounds are digital. When will this happen for images? When will this happen for scents?
Warfare: In the run up to WWI, governments around the world triumphantly touted that war was a fool’s gambit; Germany had a different perspective: strike first, and strike fast. A similar situation exists today. Can we learn from the past?
Ex: Cyberwarfare favors the party that strikes first.
Geopolitics: The 20th Century was defined by the German question (see above) — the world is moving away from American Hegemony and towards a multi polar world. What will be the 21st Century’s question?
China? India? Africa? Something else?
Markets: Will private investing become more liquid? Will it begin to match the public markets (in volatility, valuation, and variance)?
Biology: What medical breakthrough exists today that will change the world in 5-10 years, the way mRNA technology has changed the world during COVID-19?
Government: What does governance look like with AI and software? Which countries will lead the way?
Every governance paradigm shift in history has led to a series of violent reshufflings. These things take time to work themselves out: just think of the American Revolution, Magna Carta, etc.
Video Games: What will our definition of video games be in 5 years? 20 years?
In the words of a smart friend of mine: there’s a reason
Facebook’sMeta’s new logo looks like a video game controller
That’s all, for now. I’m grateful that you read what I write, thank you for accompanying me on this learning journey.
